I hold TEFL, TESOL, and TEYL certifications, and I’m passionate about helping my students grow in both confidence and ability. British English is widely recognised around the world and is particularly useful for students who want to communicate confidently in international and professional environments. British English has its own pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, and expressions, which can make it interesting and enjoyable to learn. However, whether you are learning British or American English, the most important thing is being able to understand others and communicate clearly and confidently.
When learning English, I believe that regular practice is extremely important. Reading books, watching English movies and shows, listening to English speakers, and practising conversations can all help improve your fluency. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes because mistakes are a natural part of learning. The more you practise, the more confident you will become. Most importantly, enjoy the process and remember that learning a language takes time and patience.
영국식 영어는 전 세계적으로 널리 인정받고 있으며, 특히 국제적이고 전문적인 환경에서 자신감 있게 소통하고자 하는 학생들에게 유용합니다. 영국식 영어는 고유한 발음, 철자, 어휘, 표현을 가지고 있어 배우는 재미와 흥미를 더합니다. 하지만 영국식 영어든 미국식 영어든 가장 중요한 것은 다른 사람의 말을 이해하고 명확하고 자신감 있게 소통하는 것입니다.
영어를 배울 때는 꾸준한 연습이 매우 중요하다고 생각합니다. 책을 읽고, 영어 영화와 드라마를 보고, 영어 원어민의 말을 듣고, 대화를 연습하는 것은 모두 유창성을 향상시키는 데 도움이 됩니다. 실수하는 것을 두려워하지 마세요. 실수는 학습 과정에서 자연스러운 부분입니다. 연습을 많이 할수록 자신감도 높아질 것입니다. 무엇보다 중요한 것은 학습 과정을 즐기고, 언어 학습에는 시간과 인내가 필요하다는 것을 기억하는 것입니다.
One of my favourite experiences as an English teacher has been watching students who were initially very shy and nervous about speaking English gradually become confident speakers. I remember how rewarding it felt when a student who was once afraid to answer a simple question suddenly started participating in conversations and expressing their own ideas in English. Seeing that change reminded me why I love teaching so much. For me, teaching is not only about helping students learn vocabulary and grammar; it is also about helping them believe in themselves. Seeing a student smile because they finally understand something they struggled with is one of the most rewarding parts of being a teacher.
영어 교사로서 가장 보람 있는 경험 중 하나는 처음에는 영어 말하기에 매우 수줍어하고 긴장했던 학생들이 점차 자신감 있는 화자로 변해가는 모습을 지켜보는 것입니다. 간단한 질문에도 대답하기를 두려워했던 학생이 갑자기 대화에 참여하고 영어로 자신의 생각을 표현하기 시작했을 때 얼마나 큰 보람을 느꼈는지 모릅니다. 그러한 변화를 볼 때마다 제가 왜 가르치는 일을 그토록 사랑하는지 다시금 깨닫게 됩니다. 저에게 가르치는 것은 단순히 학생들에게 어휘와 문법을 가르치는 것만이 아니라, 학생들이 스스로에 대한 믿음을 갖도록 돕는 것입니다. 어려워했던 부분을 마침내 이해하고 환하게 웃는 학생의 모습을 보는 것은 교사로서 가장 큰 만족감을 주는 순간 중 하나입니다.
