In terms of pronunciation, British English (RP) is often viewed as one of the clearest and most prestigious accents. It is well known for its clear pronunciation and has long been associated with education, broadcasting, and professional communication, making it an excellent model for English learners. In Korea, there is typically a strong emphasis on American English. Becoming familiar with British English allows students to better understand different accents, vocabulary, and expressions, helping them become more well-rounded and adaptable English speakers.
발음 측면에서 영국식 영어(RP)는 가장 명확하고 권위 있는 발음 중 하나로 여겨집니다. 영국식 영어는 명확한 발음으로 유명하며 교육, 방송, 전문적인 소통 분야에서 오랫동안 사용되어 왔기 때문에 영어 학습자에게 훌륭한 모델이 됩니다. 한국에서는 일반적으로 미국식 영어가 강하게 강조됩니다. 영국식 영어를 익히면 다양한 억양, 어휘, 표현을 더 잘 이해할 수 있게 되어 더욱 폭넓고 적응력 있는 영어 구사자가 될 수 있습니다.
One of my favourite teaching experiences has been watching shy students gradually become confident English speakers. I especially enjoy the moment when a student stops translating in their head and begins speaking naturally in English. Seeing their confidence grow over time and knowing I played a part in that journey is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a teacher.
제가 가장 좋아하는 교육 경험 중 하나는 수줍음이 많던 학생들이 점차 자신감 넘치는 영어 화자로 성장하는 모습을 지켜보는 것입니다. 특히 학생들이 머릿속으로 번역하던 것을 멈추고 자연스럽게 영어로 말하기 시작하는 순간이 가장 즐겁습니다. 시간이 지남에 따라 학생들의 자신감이 커지는 것을 보고, 제가 그 과정에 일조했다는 것을 아는 것은 교사로서 가장 보람 있는 부분 중 하나였습니다.
