I find British English particularly valuable because of its strong connection to the history and structure of the language. It also keeps certain distinctions, such as between “practice” and “practise,” which can support clearer and more precise communication.
Another aspect I appreciate is the richness of expression in British English. It offers a wide range of idioms and a more subtle, nuanced style, which can make communication feel more natural and engaging. It is also widely used across many parts of the world, making it especially useful for learners who want English for international or academic purposes. Overall, while both British and American English are important, I see British English as a great foundation for learners who want to develop accuracy, depth, and confidence in their language skills.

One of the most memorable experiences in my teaching journey was working with survivors of the 2023 earthquake in Turkey. I taught English online to students from Hatay and Iskenderun—two places that are especially close to my heart, as I had previously spent a month living and traveling there. Being able to support people from communities I had personally connected with made this experience deeply meaningful and unforgettable.
