Hello! My name is Teacher Anne, and I’m from Calgary, Canada, right next to the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I enjoy reading (especially fantasy romance, biographies, and historical fiction), travelling, and cooking. For the past six years, I have been teaching English in South Korea, where I’ve made many close Korean friends. Teaching brings me so much joy, especially watching students grow in confidence and learn to have meaningful conversations in English. I believe it’s never too late to learn a new language—English can open many opportunities, connect you with people all over the world, and even help you enjoy music, movies, and travel in a whole new way.

영국식 영어는 우아함과 역사적 깊이를 지니고 있어서 매력적입니다. 전통적인 철자와 표현을 많이 보존하고 있어, 현대의 화자들을 셰익스피어, 오스틴, 디킨스와 같은 작가들의 깊은 문학적 유산과 이어줍니다. 반면, 미국식 영어는 실용적이고 널리 사용되지만, 영국식 영어는 세련됨과 문화적 풍요로움을 담고 있어 여러 면에서 더 정제된 영어 형태라고 할 수 있습니다.
I recently took my first solo trip to Taiwan, a journey I had dreamed about for a long time. I wanted to explore Jiufen Street, which inspired the film Spirited Away, drink Oolong tea in the mountains, and wander through the bustling night markets while sipping bubble tea and tasting street food. At first, I felt nervous since I had always travelled with friends, family, or my husband, but I soon discovered the freedom of being on my own. I loved being able to spend as much time as I wanted in cafes and restaurants, and one afternoon I simply sat and read for hours. Staying at a youth hostel also gave me the chance to meet new people and make friends along the way, which made the experience even more special.
저는 최근에 오랫동안 꿈꿔왔던 대만으로 첫 혼자 여행을 다녀왔습니다. 가장 가고 싶었던 곳은 애니메이션 센과 치히로의 행방불명에 영감을 준 지우펀 거리였고, 산에서 우롱차를 마시며, 북적이는 야시장 속을 거닐며 버블티를 마시고 길거리 음식을 맛보고 싶었습니다.
처음에는 항상 친구나 가족, 남편과 함께 여행을 해왔기 때문에 혼자라는 사실이 조금 두렵기도 했습니다. 하지만 곧 혼자만의 자유를 발견할 수 있었어요. 마음껏 카페와 식당에서 시간을 보내고, 어느 오후에는 그냥 앉아 몇 시간을 책 읽으며 보낼 수 있었던 게 참 좋았습니다.
또한 유스호스텔에 머물면서 새로운 사람들을 만나고 친구가 될 수 있었는데, 덕분에 이번 여행은 더욱 특별한 경험이 되었습니다.
